COW Week - Hope Chest

What is COW Week?
COW Week is Grove High School’s annual philanthropy week designed to bring the community and our students together for a greater cause. Grove High School's Student Council believes we are capable of making a positive influence in the lives of others by Changing Our World (and that's how the acronym "COW" came to be). Every year we select one local charity to receive the funds that we gain through COW Week. Student Council holds a rigorous process for selecting the beneficiary for each year. Applications are submitted by non-profits, then student council holds meetings to narrow the selections to the top three. The top three organizations are then called in for interviews with student council. Finally, student council discusses, then places their vote on who will be the beneficiary for that school year. Throughout the rest of the school year, Student Council hosts events and fundraisers for the school and community to raise money for the organization chosen. Finally, the week before Spring Break we host even more events, plus assemblies for our students, and on the day before break we reveal that year’s total!
COW Week began in 2017; since then we have raised over $100,000 for local nonprofits. Just two years ago we were able to raise $48,323 for the Grove Fire Department’s Fire and Tornado Safety Trailer. Last year in the heat of the pandemic, we chose to take a small break from fundraising and decided to support our community by donating hundreds of hours of community service. Now, as we come back in full swing, we are more than ready to work with our community to support one of our amazing local nonprofits.
Our Mission

The mission of COW Week is to unify the community through the promotion of a local charity while bringing awareness of a deserving cause to high school students.
2022 Beneficiary - Hope Chest From The Heart
This year we have chosen an outstanding new local nonprofit that we believe encompasses the vision of COW Week. Hope Chest From The Heart is a foster closet that provides goods to foster families for their foster children. They have clothes, shoes, and toys (along with other items a child might need) that foster families can get at no charge. Their mission is to work to fill needs faced by foster families in Oklahoma when they bring foster children into their home. The funds raised this year will provide duffle bags for foster children to use. Often times all the children have is a trash bag to carry their belongings. Funds raised will also go towards their Easter Egg Hunt and 4th of July party in order to help build positive relationships between the foster families and foster children.
You can visit Hope Chest's website here for more information about their organization.
